Our Chinese programs are teaching standard Chinese pronunciation (mandarin) and simplified Chinese character writing on all levels. We use three different sets of Chinese textbooks & materials to meet the needs of students with different background in language and culture. 

Stanford textbook is designed for students from mandarin-peaking family background. It starts with recognizing and memorizing common characters, followed by teaching pinyin (Chinese phonics) . It emphasizes on listening, speaking and reading rather than writing. There are a lot of reading and vocabulary building activities.

Chinese textbook from Jinan university is widely used in Chinese school across US. It is targeted for both students with and without Chinese background. It starts from teaching pinyin, followed by recognizing Chinese characters. It emphasizes equally on listening, speaking, reading and writing.

The New Concept Textbook is a Chinese language textbook that has many unique characteristics specifically and locally tailored for students from youth to teenage years. This textbook has been tailored to students through New Concept’s research of the Chinese American lifestyle, culture, and educational environment. It meets the specific needs of Chinese American students and children whose families are not native to the Chinese language. 


本校中文教学以教授简体字为主, 采用三套不同教材


《马立平海外华裔儿童中文教材》: 
针对普通话家庭背景的学生, 采用直接认字法--直接认字,后学拼音。 对中文听、说、读的要求比对写的要求高, 认字和阅读教学为主,让学生掌握大量的语汇。 斯坦福教材并配有CD,以提高学生做作业的兴趣。 

《暨南大学教材》: 
针对感兴趣学习中文的学生, 没有中文背景和不会简单的日常中文会话的学生, 先教拼音, 后学汉字。 要求 “听、说、读、写”四会并进。

 《新意中文》:
《新意中文》是一套专门为海外学生编写的“海外本土化教材”,并配有CD,适合四岁儿童到高中生使用。教材是由美国加州执照儿童教育主管、资深中文老师陈健与中国专家学者共同研发,以她十五年全职海外中文教学经验编写而成。教材的学习形式包括识字、拼音、句型、阅读、写作、中英文互译。课文内容包含中国文学、地理、历史、哲学等中国文化的丰富知识。

中国文化课授课教程(内容)

   本校中国文化课共包括四类课程:中文基础课程;人生拓展课程;生命科学课程;艺术修养(研究)课程。课程内容整体涵盖10个方面:

  1. 中国语言课:字、词、句、文章;
  2. 中国文学课:诗歌、名言、名篇、名著简介;
  3. 中国历史课(简史):古代、近代、现代、当代;
  4. 中国地理课(简明):自然地理为主、人文地理为辅;
  5. 生活方式课:生存、生活、生长、生命,饮食、运动、睡眠、情绪等;
  6. 人生发展课:机遇、挫折、成功、收获、发展是永恒的追求,学识加胆识、知识加艺术;圣人之道为而不争;
  7. 行为艺术课:掌握知识、改变行为,坚定信念、优化行为;思想的艺术、学习的艺术、做人的艺术、与人交往的艺术;
  8. 生命科学课:什么是身心健康?怎样获得身心健康?尊重生命、维护健康,一生拥有:健康的身体、健康的心理、健康的人格、健康的人生,身心健康是人生发展的基础;
  9. 音乐慰籍心灵:旋律、节奏、情感、抒情;
  10. 欣赏鉴赏课:对美术、摄影等作品的观赏、欣赏、鉴赏;

中国文化课设置的宗旨和目标:培养学生终身学习的意识和人生发展的能力,为其日后成为复合型人才打下坚实的基础。
