For lower level course,  Emphasis is placed on understanding simple elements of design (line, form, color, texture, symmetry, etc.).

Intermediate course offers a wide variety of media such as pencil, oil pastel, water colors, and ink, and provides an atmosphere that encourages the full realization of each individual's potential.

Advanced course encourages kids with broader, working knowledge of many materials and techniques to have a confidence in their own self-expression and ability level.

It has not only attracted  many talented students,  our students are frequent winners of many national and state art shows/contests.  We have a very strong art teaching team who are devoted to bring out the full strength of imagination and self-expression of our young artists. Ms.Jiao, Ying: Our principle, Ms. Jiao, is a senior education specialist herself. She was honored as Outstanding Teacher by US Children Art Center and Oregon Humane Society. She received the 21st Century Art Contribution Award from the US Asian Pacific Art Academy. China State Council honored her as an Outstanding Overseas Teacher. 

Ms. Chen, Ella: Over eleven years of experience working in the art field. B.A and A.A. degrees in Fine Art. Expertise in oil based painting, watercolor, and portraits. Taught art classes to middle and high school students, 50 students at a time with a total of 250 students each week. using oil based painting, watercolor, and portraits using pencils. Her oil painting masterpieces, primarily landscape and flowers were sold by galleries and displayed in art exhibits in California and Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Jiao Ying Chinese culture and art school has art classes for K-12 children. Since the establishment in 1997, students from the school have won numerous awards in national and international art competitions. The school accomplishments have been highly acclaimed by students, parents and the communities.
                The art class material is based on many years of successful experience from the principle Ms. Jiao Ying. The entry classes, designed for students under 7 years old, emphasize on cultivating the inner passion that all kids have for expressing their imagination and feeling through drawings, and on the basic drawing skills. This include: 1) learn the basic shapes and how to use the basic shapes to transition the understanding from 2 dimension to 3 dimension and to draw the familiar objects from such simple shapes; 2) establish the concept of colors, understand cold color versus warm color and can use color for different expressions. During the training Principal Jiao Ying would not force students to copy and follow the exact objects in the learning material. Some of you might have been wondering: If students not follow the sample objects, what can they really learn? Principal Jiao Ying’s answer is: that’s exact why they need a professional who is familiar with how children learn. Although the skills and methods are important, at this stage, the love and passion is more precious. There is the risk that creativity and imagination might be limited if they are often asked to copy things. Principle Jiao Ying’s philosophy is to protect their imagination and allow them to grow and be expressed. And most important, they enjoy the process of creating their own work and learn at their own pace for the drawing skills. This whole process will lay a great foundation for our little artists.
After having basic level of modeling ability, the students, older than eight or those who already gone thru the primary drawing classes, need training on sketches to meet the needs for depicting living images and further to improve the drawing skills. This is when higher level courses should be considered. At this stage, the teacher will offer students higher level training on drawing skills such as Still-Life sketching, Animal sketching, coloring, and creative drawing, etc.  The students are required to further recognize, understand, and grasp the modeling factors that include shapes, spacing, perspective and so on. Using the observation approaches such as analyzing, comparing, judging, relating and contracting, etc. the students will get the idea of the physical characteristics of objects, the tendency and the proportional relationship, light and shadow, atmosphere and texture in order to more accurately depict the object.  The primary focus is on training the students to study more concrete, more complex relationship of the objects. The students at this age already have strong comprehensive ability. The teacher will help them to copy some of the excellent art work with models, which is also an important supplementary learning approach to learn and work out the drawing skills in order to improve the artistic sensibility. Drawings and sketch training can help the students to see with the artist's eyes and to draw with the artist’s hand, to establish the overall observation approaches, to grasp the flexible use of line and reasonable use of light and shade, and improve the ability to capture the feeling of the object. “Express the spirit through form and giving ample consideration to depicting the internal and external.”
 The goal of children’s art education is not to cultivate them into professional painters, but rather to provide life-changing education. It is psychology, sentiment,
and personality training. Education without art is not complete. Encouraging students to actively participate in art activities is a good way to cultivate their ability to observe, memorize, imagine, and being creative. Through painting creation, students express and unfold their internal desire and emotion. It also helps them to improve their understanding of the world. Enlightening intelligence through painting studies is very effective. Every child should receive professional art training and enlightenment at early childhood. It will lay a sound foundation for them to fully realize their potentials when they grow up. If you want to understand and educate children, you need to master this golden key of children’s painting training.

       焦莹中华文化艺术学校设有K-12年级美术课,自1997年建校以来 获得了无数的国际国内各级别的绘画比赛大奖,培育出了一大批艺术幼苗。 得到了学生和家长们的爱戴及社会各界的好评。
美术班的教材由焦莹校长根据多年行之有效的教学经验亲自编写制定。7岁以下的初级班学生,基本上是以培养绘画兴趣为主,引导儿童尽早奠定绘画基础及启发他们的形象思维能力。其一,学习掌握基本的几何形状,并且利用简单的几何形状进行变换练习,逐渐理解平面和空间艺术的区别。使学生们可以画出一些司空见惯和喜爱的形象。第二,建立基本的色彩概念。认识色彩的冷暖,并且可以采用不同的色调画出自己喜爱的绘画作品。在此期间并不一定要求学生必须临摹教材,或许,这样会使一些学生家长感到困惑。会问: 不临摹教材,我的孩子跟你学什么?。其实不然,这就是为什么您的孩子需要到绘画班,需要有一位专业的经验丰富的老师辅导。绘画的方法和技巧是非常重要的, 但是在学生的这个年龄段,对艺术的感觉和喜爱是更重要的事情。小朋友们可贵的想象力 和创造力,有可能在一味的要求他们画的和老师教的一模一样中慢慢地失去.所以, 老师在教学中的循循善诱因势利导尤其重要, 既要小心呵护和启发他们的想象力又要激励和帮助他们大胆创作.使学生们在正确有效的引导下, 在积极愉快的学习气氛中, 逐渐学习和尽快掌握他们需要进行的基础课练习。学以至用,为下一步深入的学习打下坚固的基础。
八岁以上或者是已经通过了初级绘画教育的学生,有了一定的造型能力以后,需要进行素描学习和写生训练, 以满足他们希望描绘真实形象的需求,和进一步提高绘画技巧。这时即可以进行下一步的课程。在这一阶段中, 老师会在学生已经接受的绘画教育基础上进入高一级的课程学习内容包括: 静物素描/动物速写/色彩/创作等.要求学生对比例,空间,透视等造型因素有进一步的理解和认识及掌握与提高。通过分析,比较,判断,联系,对照等观察方法。把握对象的形体特征, 动态和比例关系, 光影,环境气氛及质感等等,可以比较准确地描绘对象。主要是开始培养学生对形象, 进入更具体的较为复杂关系的刻画学习. 在这个年龄段的学生已经具备了较强的理解能力。老师会辅导他们临摹一些优秀的范作,这也是一种学习的重要辅助形式。 可以学习和揣摩绘画技法, 以提高对艺术的感受力。素描和速写训练帮助学生们练就一双艺术家的眼,艺术家的手,建立整体的观察方法。学会灵活地运用线条合理的运用明暗,提高从客观对象上 扑捉感受的能力。“以形写神,形神兼备 ”
少年儿童的美术教育并不是以培养画家为目的,它是人的素质教育。是心理,情操和人格修养的教育。没有艺术的教育是不完整的教育,鼓励学生积极的参加美术活动是一种很好的方法和手段。可以培养他们的观察力,记忆力,想象力和创造力. 可以使学生们通过绘画创作,表现和舒展自己内在的愿望和情感 以及增加对世界的认识和理解。
